US DOD DARPAがまた新しい HPCプロジェクトの公募を開始しました。
現在進行中の High Productivity Computer Systems (HPCS) は 2010年度
までなので、後継として、Ubiquitous High Performance Computing (UHPC)
が現在公募されていますが、新規追加の HPCプロジェクトです。
※UHPCについての日本語での解説 (RFIが公開された直後の 2009/07/15)
URLを載せておきます。
新プロジェクトは、Omnipresent High Performance Computing (OHPC) で、
Ubiquitousから Omnipresentで「何に？」って感じですが 引用するように、
OHPCは UHPC実現を加速化する研究メインのものです (期間は 3年間)。
※3年後に、似たような名称のプロジェクトが公募されるかもしれませんね。

OHPC Goals
"The OHPC program will research, develop and document novel and
revolutionary technologies and designs critical to the development
of highly efficient, highly programmable and dependable UHPC systems.
The anticipated time frame for prototype UHPC systems is 2018.
※米国で 2018年は重要な年です。2018年をの Exaflopsの実現を目標 (同意？)
しています (近いうちに紹介します)。欧州は 2019年。
Program Structure (Page 4)
"There will be a single, 3‐year phase for the OHPC Program. It is
anticipated that multiple projects will be funded. Proposals from
both individual contributors and teams of reserchers are encouraged.
Maximum funding will be $1 million per year per project."

"The technologies developed under the OHPC program should make a
significant contribution to ExtremeScale systems, cover all
aspects of the system design, and are scalable to UHPC or ExaScale
computing (as defined in the UHPC solicitation, DARPA-BAA-10-37).
It is anticipated that OHPC designs and technologies will be
integrated into one or more UHPC systems during the course of the
OHPC program."
